At last, a mention ...

... in the Indian financial press of the true impediment to removing rural poverty in India. Please click on the title of this post for an article from the Financial Express:
While Indian taxpayers spent $12-15 billion on writing off loans to farmers, the improvement in efficiency of Government procurement and the cleaning up and privatization of the agriculture supply chain could avoid their going into debt in the first place.
It would be interesting to establish who these middlemen are. I suspect our political parties wouldn't be too keen on a public examination of that.
