What the article misses is that things for these unfortunates isn't much better even in "good" times. Not so long ago, when global food prices were spiralling upwards the farmer suicides issue was arguably worse than it is today - leading in part to a very expensive loan waiver programme of questionable effectiveness.
Wonder why the main issue - the agricultural supply chain which is so heavily weighted against the Indian farmer is not mentioned more often? Let's address the cause of the problem!!
